One of the distinctive features of a French jacket is beautifully coordinated trim. Finding trim that both compliments your fabric and is also flexible/ non-bulky can be difficult. I've developed methods of combining crochet stitches with matching yarns to create your own unique trim. We'll experiment with purchased yarns and fibers pulled from the fabrics. Basic crochet stitches: chain stitch, single, half-double and double crochet stitches are all that's required.
What you will need:
A variety of yarns (unless you purchase the class kit)
Crochet needles C, D, E, F (needles are available for purchase)
Proficiency in chain stitch, single crochet, half-double and double crochet

"Those participating will enjoy the class more if they are comfortable making a chain stitch, single crochet, half-double and double crochet. Most beginners pull the stitches too tight. There are loads of on-line videos on how to do those stitches. It’s easier to practice with medium tone smooth yarn such as knitting worsted and a size H, I or K hook. That way you can see the stitches clearly and get familiar with the technique. I start the class using smooth yarns which are easier to work with and progress to more textured fibers. Looking forward to meeting and working with your group." Mary
