Learn to Mold Fabric with Your Iron: This 4 hour class will explore how to manipulate fabric using heat and steam. We’ll learn how to contour waistbands, collars and lapels. Mary will also demonstrate the shaping necessary before you sew your sleeve together to achieve a beautifully contoured sleeve.
We will learn the pattern changes and ironwork to eliminate mismatching of horizontal lines across princess seams. French jackets often have “jogs” in the horizontal weave, especially when fitting a fuller bust. This method eliminates that issue.
"Those participating can either just watch or assemble some wool fabrics to do the techniques along with me. You may wish to have a steam iron and pieces of fabric available to work along with me during class. Wool and soft boucle fabrics work best. To practice the side panel shaping of a French jacket, have fabric large enough to cut a side front. " - Mary
